OFFICE OF EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Welcome to the Center for Social Development in the Kingdom of Cambodia.  We are elated to be introduced to you via this website, and would like to invite you to actively join us in our activities and programs.

To address the challenges of present-day Cambodia, CSD places a strong emphasis in building on its very recognizable name by strengthening the existing fields of court monitoring, good governance, public dialogue through its long-standing forums, elections and parliamentary monitoring, and publications of various bulletins, booklets and research papers, and by building on new projects with emphasis on youth and communication via our iREACH Kep Pilot Project and Voice of Justice Program.

However, simultaneously, CSD is run like a business enterprise.  We focus inwardly on building “systems” within the organization, with a particular emphasis on finance, administration and communication.  We continually work to marry business efficiency, professionalism and accountability with humanitarian goals; we believe doing humanitarian work is not a license to be sloppy in financial, administrative accountability.

Part and parcel of the inward focus is capacity-building for staff by using resources already existing within CSD, and simultaneously looking for opportunities for staff to be exposed to other cities and countries for seminars and conferences.  Upon their return, CSD requires that the staff pass on their knowledge by giving a presentation to other CSD staff of their learning experiences.  Moreover, we believe everyone at CSD has an invaluable contribution to make to CSD and society no matter what position s/he holds.  Acting upon this believe, we have a uniform communication system whereby even the driver has access to a computer, an email address and a CSD prepaid cell card.  We believe that social development work begins first at home that is CSD, and work to build the managerial class that everyone acknowledges is lacking in Cambodia.

At the end of the day, our goal is to have people not know whether we are a local NGO or an international institution because of the quality of our work, our professionalism, and our financial and administrative responsibility.

We are most fortunate to be working in the social development field and having fun in the process.

Come visit us!  Come join us!
